The 4ipnet OWL530 is a single radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n device for long range outdoor wireless transmission. Its rugged IP68-rated metal housing is weatherproof, watertight and rust-resistant, making it an ideal solution for deployments in harsh conditions, such as industrial environments.
As an access point with wall-penetrating, high-power signal and long-range coverage, the OWL530 can effectively serve Wi-Fi clients, or it can be set up as a WDS-mesh node by establishing multiple WDS links to bridge neighboring access points together.
The OWL530 supports tunnel-based AP Management, and comes with all standards demanded by enterprise applications, including business-grade security (802.1X, WPA and WPA2) and multiple ESSIDs with VLAN tags to segment a corporate network and protect critical resources. Furthermore, one OWL530 with multiple SSIDs is capable of acting as multiple Virtual APs (VAPs).
The OWL530 is also an ideal last-mile solution for wireless ISPs (WISPs). When operating in CPE (Client) mode, it functions as a Wi-Fi modem gateway to receive wireless signals over the last-mile Internet feed from WISPs. The CPE’s bandwidth to the Internet can then be assigned by the WISP. The OWL530 offers broadband connectivity without the expensive trenching of fiber cabling.
Supporting up to 300Mbps wireless speed with its 802.11n 2x2 MIMO solution, and with a gigabit Ethernet interface, the OWL530 is perfect for bandwidth-hungry applications such as video surveillance and multi-media streaming over wireless. With a selectable dual band radio, it also provides the flexibility to service wireless clients on 2.4GHz or perform wireless backhaul on 5GHz.
